Rockingham County has the highest estimated annual median household income at approximately $85,600.
In 2017, an individual less than 65 years old and earning less than $12,752 was in poverty, as was a family of three with one child earning less than $19,730. Rockingham County had the lowest county poverty in the state at 4.8 percent, significantly less than any other county.
Only one in seventeen children under 18 years of age in Rockingham County were living in poverty, again significantly different than all other counties.
The poverty rate, however, does not necessarily reflect the number of people living in poverty. Rockingham County has the lowest poverty rates in New Hampshire, but our county also has about 14,400 people living on poverty-level incomes, making us the second largest number of people in poverty, compared to the other counties in the state.
