Thanks to Rights and Democracy for selecting me to be one of 16 State Rep candidates to receive their early endorsement in 2020. Rights and Democracy says, “We believe rights and democracy are won when people come together to make their voices heard, so we’re building a strong movement and the people power necessary to win justice and improve the policies that affect us and our communities. From making sure that every worker earns a livable wage, to securing access to quality health care and education for all, we are active in a broad range of issues that people in New Hampshire face every day.

People’s Action Endorses Movement Politics Candidates in New Hampshire
WASHINGTON, D.C.–People’s Action today endorsed a slate of 16 New Hampshire state and county-level candidates for election. The candidates are running movement politics, people-powered campaigns and will fight for the People’s Action People’s Platform once elected. Each of these candidates is also endorsed by People’s Action’s New Hampshire member organization, Rights and Democracy.

The Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United v. FEC decision completely changed the landscape of American politics — it opened the door for billionaires, corporations, and special interests to spend unlimited, untraceable money to influence our elections.
Fight For Reform is a project of End Citizens United. We focus on electing champions of campaign finance reform to state government, and passing reform ballot initiatives to create immediate change in states around the country.
NH AFL-CIO
I am pleased to again accept the endorsement of New Hampshire AFL-CIO. American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL–CIO) is a national trade union center, and the largest federation of unions in the United States. It is made up of fifty-six national and international unions, representing more than 12 million active and retired workers.
The New Hampshire AFL-CIO is the state body of the national AFL-CIO. As the state’s largest labor federation, they represent affiliated local unions and their New Hampshire members. The New Hampshire AFL-CIO is a diverse social justice organization that is committed to the dignity of all and united in the struggle to improve the lives of working families and our communities.
As a strong statewide voice for all working people, the New Hampshire AFL-CIO brings together the unions of New Hampshire into one labor movement that fights for economic and social justice in our workplaces, and communities. They encourage the organization of all workers so that they may equally share in the benefits of union organization; work to increase public understanding of the labor movement and its contributions to society; advocate for legislation and policies which will safeguard and promote the principle of collective bargaining, the rights of workers and consumers, and the security and welfare of all working people; and oppose legislation harmful to these objectives.

The New Hampshire Chapter actively works with a coalition of groups to promote action on climate issues and energy-related pollution, and works to increase renewable energy and efficiency programs in New Hampshire.
I am honored that this is the third time that I have received the endorsement of Sierra Club. I’ve worked with the Sierra Club director, Cathy Corkery, on several environmental bills over the past few years, and look forward to working with her again. Here we are in 2018 — with a pre-COVID-19 hug!

I am pleased to again receive the recommendation from the National Educational Association of New Hampshire (NEA-NH). NEA-NH is comprised of more than 17,000 members, with a mission to advocate for the children of New Hampshire and public school employees and to promote lifelong learning. Members are public school educators in all stages of their careers, including classroom teachers and other certified professionals, instructors at public higher education institutions, students preparing for a teaching career, education support personnel and those retired from the profession. They are committed to improving student achievement in New Hampshire public schools, providing learning opportunities for teachers and students, and ensuring that all students are ready to learn.

The political endorsement policy of SEA/SEIU Local 1984 requires the Political Education Committee to vet and vote on endorsements in national, state, and local elections. The committee met individually with major gubernatorial candidates and also held Republican and Democratic candidates’ forums. The committee’s recommendation then went before the Board of Directors for final approval. The organization does not base its endorsements on political party affiliation. It endorses candidates who support working people – the fiber of our nation.
SEA/SEIU Local 1984 represents about 11,500 public and private-sector employees across the Granite State. First formed in 1940 as a social organization, the State Employee’s Association(SEA) won passage of New Hampshire’s Public Employee Labor Relations Law in 1975. Since then, the union has negotiated hundreds of contracts with state, county, municipal and private-sector employers. The SEA affiliated with the Service Employees’ International Union (SEIU) in 1984. I am honored to have been selected by Teamsters Local 633 as one of their endorsed candidates. Teamsters Local 633, the only Teamsters organization in New Hampshire, was chartered in 1934. Since that time, they have grown to over 4,700 members working in New Hampshire for several different employers. Members work in such fields as Anheuser-Busch brewery workers, UPS, warehouse, freight drivers, police departments, correctional officers, court security officers, public works employees, several municipalities, airport maintenance, school principals, concrete drivers, pipeline workers, bus drivers, sheriffs’ deputies and dispatchers, race track employees, power plant and beer distribution workers.
Teamsters Local 633 formed Granite State Teamsters DRIVE (Democrat, Republican, Independent Voter Education). “DRIVE serves a vital role in educating our members on the impact that political decisions make on our members. Laws, rules and regulations enacted by federal, state and local governments directly impact our members. An informed membership is a strong membership. DRIVE’s voluntary contributions help support political candidates — regardless of party affiliation — who fight to support those laws, rules and regulations that protect and maintain workers’ rights.”
The American Federation of Teachers (AFT), is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare, and public services for their students, their families, and our communities. They are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work their members do.
