COVID-19 Update July 8

Total: 275 confirmed cases
1 out of every 107 residents has been infected.
Salem Today: 0 new cases, 43 active cases.

Salem has no new cases today.
The number of tests being performed remains low, but the positivity rate also remains less than 2%.
One-quarter of those who were infected today in NH were children under 18 years of age.
Rockingham County now has over 1,500 cases, but it’s still less than the City of Manchester has had. Manchester, however, is down to 90 active cases, while Rockingham County has 162 active cases.
Another 59 people were reported to have recovered. Hillsborough County has 45 fewer active cases today than they had yesterday. Rockingham County has four more.
More people are recovering in NH than are being diagnosed. There are less than 750 active cases in the state.
There is no change in the number of active cases in Salem. Salem has 43 active cases; we have averaged 43 over the last three weeks.
There are now over 12 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the world, according to Worldometers. (I like Worldometers; they document their sources, and seem to be ahead of most news outlets.)
I found a more recent report from the State regarding nursing home outbreaks, so that page has been updated. I believe I have figured out the State’s schedule, so I will likely have another update later this week.

NH is keeping our numbers low. There was a concern that the recent protests would increase the number of cases, but there doesn’t seem to be any impact. Why? Most of the protestors wore masks! If you are must be in a crowd, be smart and wear a mask. Stay safe, and always, be kind.
