The NHDES website reports that 21 wells have been sampled in Salem, and 11 more are scheduled to be tested shortly. Few results are available. The PFS Sampling Results report, updated July 1, shows results from only one system in Salem. NHDES reports that the bedrock wells system identified as Autumn Woodsserving 180 people, was tested on May 25. PFOA was found at less than 2 ppt (parts per trillion). PFOS was found to be <4 ppt. (How much greater was not identified.) New Hampshire’s Ambient Groundwater Quality Standard is 70 ppt.
It’s been a month since this concern was first raised. We have been told that the results of this will take about a month. We should hear something … soon. Possibly on Tuesday at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting?
The NH Department of Environmental Services is scheduled to attend the July 5, 2016 Board of Selectmen meeting to provide an update on the status of the LL&S PFOA and PFOS contamination. The Board of Selectmen meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the High School Media Center. DES will provide a brief explanation of perfluorinated compounds, an overview of the active investigations in NH, and discuss the LL&S project and the status of the investigation.
