COVID-19 Update September 12

  • Total: 317 confirmed cases in Salem
  • 1 out of every 93 Salem residents have been infected
  • Salem Today: 2 new cases, 13 active cases

 

• • • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT • • • • • •

  • Two more Salem residents have been infected with COVID-19. This is the fifth day in a row with new cases in Salem. We’ve had 12 new cases in the past week.
  • NH DHHS has reported 37 new people confirmed to have COVID-19 in NH. The cumulative number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 went up by only 32.
  • The positivity rate today was 1.85%; under 2% for the first time in two days.
  • New infections include 5 kids under 18. There were four kids aged 0-9 and three youth aged 10-19. Seven kids 0-19; with a one-week average of 6.29 kids per day, and a two-week average of 5.21.
  • So far, no Salem students are showing up on the state’s COVID-19, although one student from Salem HS was reportedly diagnosed on Sept. 10. (We are told that they haven’t been in school since Sept 4.) Schools that are on the school dashboard with active cases:
    • Pre School: None.
    • Elementary Schools: Manchester (Bartlett Elementary, 1)
    • Middle Schools: Goffstown (Mountain View Middle School, 1)
    • High Schools: Tilton (Tilton School, 1); Windham (Windham High, 6)
    • College/University: Colby-Sawyer (1); Dartmouth (1); Keene State (4); NE College-Henniker (3); NE College-Manchester (3);  Plymouth State (2); UNH-Durham (40); UNH-Manchester (2).
  • Communities with more than 5 active cases: Nashua (+2); Windham (+1); Rochester (Was 1-4, now 5); Auburn (Now 5 active, new to list); Derry (-1); Keene Active (-1); Pelham (-1); Dover (-2); Manchester (-4); Durham (-5); Bedford (Was 6, now 1-4); Goffstown (Was 5, now 1-4). (Salem had no change in the number of active cases.)
  • Communities that I’m watching (Mostly with 50 or more cumulative cases), with changes in their total numbers: Manchester (+6); Durham (+4); Concord (+3); Nashua (+3); Rochester (+2); Salem (+2); Hanover (+1); Hooksett (+1); Londonderry (+1); Pelham (+1); and Windham (+1). Two communities have fewer consecutive cases than yesterday: Bedford (-1); Weare (-1).
  • With 50 more people reported as “recovered,” the number of active cases in NH has gone back down to under 300.
  • There was one new hospitalization of a patient with COVID-19. We are back down to 6 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in NH.
  • In late May, more than 10% of all people with confirmed cases of COVID-19 were hospitalized. The rate is now down to 9.42%.
  • One person died in NH. This was the first fatality of a Rockingham County resident in 16 days.
  • The death rate of all confirmed cases in NH has gone down from early July, when it was 6.5%, to 5.6%.

These are not simply numbers. We must not forget that these are all someone’s husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, son or daughter, friend or neighbor.
