COVID-19 Update September 26

COVID-19 Update September 26

  • Total: 323 confirmed cases in Salem
  • 1 out of every 91 Salem residents have been infected
  • Salem Today: 0 new cases, <5 active cases

• • • • TODAY’S SPOTLIGHT • • • • • •

  • The same number of Salem residents are infected as we had 8 days ago. (We did add one, a few days ago, but they were removed from our cumulative total the next day.
  • I was corrected in what I reported yesterday: We’ve been told that there was a fourth case in Salem High. I’m now told that the student was last in school on Wednesday, not Thursday. I still don’t see where they are showing on the State’s records, either in Salem cases or in the dashboard for Salem schools.
  • Changes in Cumulative Cases from Last Saturday to today
    • No change: Salem & Hudson
    • +1: Goffstown, Hampstead, Hanover, Portsmouth
    • +2: Hooksett, Lebanon, Milford, Plaistow, Raymond, Weare
    • +3: Concord, Londonderry, Pelham, Seabrook
    • +6: Durham, Exeter (Exeter from Friday)
    • +7: Dover, Merrimack
    • +10: Keene, Windham
    • +14: Bedford
    • +17: Nashua
    • +23: Rochester
    • +30: Manchester
  • Communities with more than five active cases: Manchester (38); Nashua (34); Rochester (19); Bedford (17); Durham (12); Dover and Windham (11 each); Brentwood and Merrimack (10 each); Concord, Exeter and Londonderry (6 each).
  • Yesterday, NH DHHS reported that the testing data “includes test conducted by the University of New Hampshire laboratory and its contracted testing laboratory.” UNH’s dashboard was not updated today. Our new positive and new total infections are at a level that we’ve come to expect.
  • I am told that Warde Healthcare in Windham has notified families that there are three people associated with that long-term care facility that tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Today, NH DHHS reported in their press release that 3 kids under 18 were infected. Per NH DHHS’s dashboard, there was 1 child aged 0-9 that were infected, and there were 3 of kids aged 10-19; and 6 young adults aged 20-29, who were infected. The ages with the most new infections today were 30-39 and 80+, each with seven new cases.
  • Schools with active or recovered cases:
    • No preschool. 15 elementary schools (+1). 6 middle schools (+2). 14 high schools (+2). 12 Colleges/Universities.
    • The numbers for Salem students remain unchanged (1 active case, even though we know of four Salem High students that have been infected.)
    • The number of schools that have had at least one student with an infection is growing (elementary, middle and high school). There hasn’t been a change in the number of colleges and universities reporting new infections.
    • All schools have 0-2 kids who are actively infected, except for UNH-Law with 3 students, and UNH-Durham who now has 46 active cases — up 2 from yesterday.
    • UNH-Durham also have 90 recovered students, up four from yesterday.
    • UNH has added 16 active cases in the past 6 days, and 12 more recovered cases.
    • NH DHHS reports that UNH has 1 cluster, but says that do not have a current outbreak.)
  • NH was able to go ten days without losing anyone from COVID-19. Unfortunately, we lost some today.
